Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT are becoming increasingly capable of writing essays, solving math problems, and even coding. Some educators believe these tools should be embraced in the classroom to enhance learning, while others worry they will hinder critical thinking and encourage cheating.
What is your opinion? Should schools allow students to use AI tools for their assignments? Why or why not?
I think schools should ban AI tools because students need to learn how to think for themselves. If an AI writes their essays, they won't develop essential writing and analytical skills. Relying on technology for everything will make students intellectually lazy.
I disagree. AI is the future, and students need to learn how to use it effectively. Instead of banning it, teachers should show students how to use AI as a tutor or a brainstorming partner. It can personalize learning and help students understand difficult concepts faster.
